Staying at the stunning Tarrytown House Estate Hotel

Arriving at this gorgeous estate you’ll be in awe. The estate’s castle-esque structure feels like you’ve stepped into a fairytale. Located high up on a hill on 26 acres of land, this hotel’s property is massive.

This is the perfect getaway from NYC, and would also be a stunning location for weddings!

Check in: 4pm

Check out: 11 am

✩Location: 49 East Sunnyside Lane  Tarrytown, New York 10591

On this mini staycation with my mom and boyfriend, we opted to stay in a double queen room for 2 nights. Check-in was seamless; you are given 2 room keys & a packet with a map of the grounds & information on your stay. (FYI, a temporary hold of $150 is placed on your credit card in case of damages.) There’s a special discount for NY State Residents as well!

Rooms:

The double room is midsized with a contemporary look and the beds were like clouds. In the room there’s a keurig with coffee & tea, a refrigerator and cable T.V. The bathrooms were well stocked with fresh towels & the vanity lights & large mirrors were perfect for applying makeup. (I could definitely see myself filming a makeup or skincare tutorial here!) The sink is on the outside which could come in handy when traveling with larger groups. The bathroom itself was on the smaller side with older features, but it served it’s purpose!

The main highlights of this hotel are it’s beautiful property and amenities! This was my first time going to Tarrytown during the summer, and access to a pool was on the top of my list. This huge 8-foot deep pool was so refreshing! It’s open from 7am-7pm. A dreamy spot to sunbathe or work remotely.

(Pro tip: Get there early in the morning, preferably on a weekday, to enjoy some quiet, rest and relaxation.)

This hotel also boasts an impressive fitness center equipped with peloton bikes, treadmills, elliptical machines & weight training equipment located right behind the outdoor pool. As if that’s not enough, there’s also tennis, basketball AND volleyball courts! (Yes, A convinced me to shoot some hoops with him 😂) Unfortunately, the indoor pool & sauna was closed due to Covid-19 restrictions.

Dining:

We didn’t get a chance to dine at Goosefeather, the estate’s on-site restaurant by Chef Dale Talde (Top Chef, Chopped) but would absolutely love to in the future. According to the Tarrytown House Estate website, they serve elevated Cantonese dishes which:

“Pays tribute to the food of Hong Kong, with a focus on noodles, family-style Cantonese barbecue, and dumplings.”

The hotel also offers room service, a full breakfast buffet and a smaller to-go snack bar located in the hotel lobby.

Things to do in Town:

(I have a whole other post specifically on things to do in Tarrytown but here are a few recs!)

  • Visit main street
  • Dine at Rivermarket Bar & Kitchen
  • Watch the sunset at Scenic Hudson RiverWalk Park (I recommend getting dinner at Rivermarket, then walking over here to see some beautiful views.)
