Best Boutique Hotel in Fort Lauderdale Beach: Kimpton Shorebreak Resort

If you’re looking for the best hotel to stay in Fort Lauderdale just minutes from the beach, look no further than the Kimpton Shorebreak Fort Lauderdale Beach Resort! (Formerly the Kimpton Goodland.) This boutique hotel is a stylish, tropical oasis that will definitely help you find your zen. This was my first time at a Kimpton property, and I recently became an IHG rewards member. I cannot stop raving about here, but first let me tell you how the Kimpton Shorebreak Ft. Lauderdale saved our vacation.

My family and I just flew in to Fort Lauderdale airport to celebrate my mom’s birthday. Our first hotel that we booked was just not what we thought it would be, leaving us to scramble to find a new hotel that same day.

After some research, I landed on the Kimpton Shorebreak Beach Resort. I realize I had looked into this hotel initially when looking up where to stay in Fort Lauderdale, but my mom wanted to be directly on the beach for her bday, so we ended up with the other option. Well, I wish we would’ve chosen the Kimpton from the beginning because it exceeded our expectations and more. At that point, we just wanted a nice, clean hotel & the Kimpton Shorebreak was all that & more. We stayed for 4 days & 3 nights.

From the doorman, to the front desk, to housekeeping; the staff at the Kimpton Shorebreak Beach Resort made us feel so welcomed & important. The front desk was extremely friendly, personable, and very empathetic after hearing what had happened regarding our prior hotel.

Let’s talk rooms:

We stayed in a double queen room, which was spacious and perfect for the 3 of us.

The beds were SO comfortable, seriously–I felt like I was sleeping on clouds! The rooms vibes were beachy/slightly retro yet still modern.

The room comes with a desk & chair, huge flatscreen TV, outlets everywhere, a refrigerator, closet w/ a safe & robes. The bathroom had a spacious shower & a full-length mirror on the back of the door.

The rooftop pool is STUNNING with views of the Ft. Lauderdale intracoastal. It had been raining for the first 2 days of our trip and on the last day the sun came out! (Just in time for my mom’s birthday!) I was determined to go to the pool so I headed up to their 8th floor rooftop before my fam & was in awe. I called my mom & gram & told them they needed to get up here immediately.

There are cabanas & day beds with umbrellas to lounge on. It was perfect. The rooftop has a bar & there is a poolside food menu as well. We ordered a spicy mangorita for me, 2 piña coladas for my mom & gram & margarita pizza to share. All so delicious!

When I tell you I was living my best life, I mean it! I can spend the entire day soaking in the sun & views at the Kimpton Shorebreak’s rooftop pool. While I was waiting for my family to meet me, I was making friends with everybody (like the true Libra I am!)

Another fun touch to this hotel is their “Social Hour” at their Botanic restaurant. Every day from 5-6pm guests can show their room key and get a complimentary glass of white or red wine. This is to encourage guests to socialize & we definitely did! We ended up meeting another family who was also in town for the same Miami carnival we were going to.

While we didn’t get a chance to eat at Botanic, I checked out their menu & it looked pretty solid! Ranging from shrimp tacos, to fig & prosciutto pizza to brussel sprouts & more! There’s even a happy hour menu from 5-7pm that’s incredibly reasonably priced. (Think $6 sliders, $3 crispy shrimp tacos & $7 specialty cocktails & more.) I ordered “The Suz” which is essentially their version of a spicy margarita & I was definitely pleased. Keep in mind I’m coming from NY prices, so this is a steal for me 🤣

On our final day the sun came out & I made sure to use those bikes out front! There’s an app you download & the front desk will give you the code to unlock the bike. If you’ve ever used a Citibike or something similar, it’s the same process. I rode down to the beach & started biking along Bayshore Dr. The ocean views & smelling the salty air was invigorating. I didn’t last long though–after about 15 mins I turned around and rode back because it was hot & I was getting tired (I’ve been spoiled by e-bikes!) However, I love having the option to hop on a bike & ride to the beach. What a dream.

Everything worked out the way it was supposed to, I cannot recommend the Kimpton Shorebreak enough. I will definitely be back & can’t wait to check out other Kimpton Properties!
